BOYCOTT

COMPANIES PROFITING FROM WAR IN GAZA HAVE NO PLACE IN EDUCATION.

JOIN A NATIONAL BOYCOTT.

Companies that profit from war in Gaza and beyond have no place in education. Join a national boycott of programs associated with weapons companies, and help us kick these companies out of education.

We’re targeting major programs that maintain and defend partnerships with harmful weapons companies.  You can help by taking two minutes to tell the National Youth Science Forum  that Lockheed Martin – a company that supplies weapons for war on Gaza and beyond – has no place in education.

We’ve made it easy for you to send a letter to decision makers at the National Youth Science Forum –  just click on the button the describes you best.

WHAT'S THE ISSUE?

The global weapons industry uses partnerships with STEM education programs to sanitise their image, attract young people to careers in the weapons industry, and normalise war and violence.

Lockheed Martin is one of the biggest weapons companies in the world, and supplies weapons that are being used in the war on Gaza.

While several Australian states and territories recognise the weapons industry is harmful, and do not permit schools to partner with weapons companies, education programs like the National Youth Science Forum continue to associate with Lockheed Martin, and allow this company to promote itself to young people through education.

Despite the evidence of extreme harm caused in Gaza and beyond by Lockheed Martin products, the National Youth Science Forum defends or deflects the issue.

By joining a national boycott, we can remove social licence from companies that profit from extreme harm in Gaza, and help end the influence of the global weapons industry in Australian education.

DISARMAMENT + EDUCATION

We’re launching this boycott on 5 March 2024, the International Day for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness.  This annual International Day promotes understanding of how disarmament and non-proliferation is central to enhancing peace and security, preventing and ending armed conflicts, and curbing human suffering caused by weapons.

This International Day also highlights the vital role of young people and education in disarmament.

The participation of weapons companies in education is a barrier to awareness of disarmament issues, and to progress towards peace and human security. Learn more about the issue of weapons companies in Australian STEM education.

Our partners in this boycott are Teachers and School Staff for Palestine and Medical Association for Prevention of War.
