Weapons companies’ interference in education is facilitated by key STEM education strategies and initiatives from the Defence department. These initiatives have the sole purpose of normalising and promoting careers in weapons development and production.
The Schools Pathways Program gives money directly to the South and Western Australian education departments and, in 2024, has expanded into an open competitive grant program with an additional $11 million in funding.
This program has not received any public scrutiny, or been assessed for its value to children, schools and the community.
We’ve teamed up with the federal Greens education spokesperson, Senator Penny Allman-Payne, to order the government to produce documents related to this program.
