Myths that Sustain the Global Arms Trade

Demilitarise Education's video series is a great resource for introducing key concepts and busting myths about the weapons trade.

UK-based org Demilitarise Education (dEd) has created a video series based on Paul Holden’s book Indefensible: Seven Myths that Sustain the Global Arms Trade.

While many people oppose individual wars, there is a common belief that the arms industry is necessary to keep us safe, provide jobs, and improve the economy. But there’s little evidence to support these beliefs. In fact, over-investment in the weapons industry has a negative effect on security and the economy.

dEd’s seven-part series is a great introduction to key concepts like human security and the treaties and laws that regulate the arms trade, and debunks the myths that sustain this harmful industry.
